Spring, Summer & Autumn Shows

Throughout the year we host three showcase events. These are a chance for members to enter their locally grown plants, fruits and vegetables with trophies awarded for the winners in each class. There are also arts, photography, wine & handicraft sections. Some items are available for purchase during the events. Show rules, classes and how to enter are listed below.

Show Rules

All entries must be received by the Show Secretary by 8.00pm on the Thursday preceding the Show. Entries should be e-mailed to info@hhhs.org.uk and entry fees paid on the morning of the show.

 

NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

 

STAGING: From 07.30am to 10.45am on the day of the Show.

 

ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE STAGED BEFORE 10.45am ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW. ALL PERSONS OTHER THAN SHOW OFFICIALS MUST LEAVE THE HALL WHILE JUDGING IS IN PROGRESS.

 

All exhibits must be bona fide property of, and grown by, the exhibitor with the exception of the Floral Art.

 

The exhibits shall be judged under the rules of the Royal Horticultural Society, National Chrysanthemum Society, National Dahlia Society, National Vegetable Society, National Sweet Pea Society and the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies.

 

More than one member of a household may exhibit from the same garden provided that each exhibits a different KIND (not variety) of plant, flower, fruit or vegetable.

 

No exhibitor shall make more than one entry per Class.

 

Vases are provided for use in the Flower Sections.

 

All roots must be washed and other exhibits properly prepared.

 

The Judges shall have the power to reduce or withhold prizes where the exhibits are deficient in merit or number.

 

The Judges’ decision shall be final.

 

The Committee will take all ordinary care of plants, flowers etc. exhibited, but will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may arise from any cause whatsoever.

 

Will all last year’s trophy winners please return your trophies to the Show Secretary on or before the relevant show. If you are going to return them on the day of the show, PLEASE let the Show Secretary know. THANK YOU!

 

Please Note: Would all exhibitors at the time of display, advise the Show Superintendent if any of their exhibits can be auctioned at the end of the show.

 

Entry Fees: 30p per Exhibit, Children under 16 years of age Free.

 

Points Awarded: 1st prize - 3 points;  2nd prize - 2 points;  3rd prize - 1 point.

 

Points doubled in the Classes for which extra prize money is awarded.
